Padma Multipurpose Bridge

The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River, the main distributary of Ganges, under construction in Bangladesh with its own resources. It connects Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the south-west of the country, to northern and eastern regions.

Kanchpur - Meghna - Gumti Bridge Project

Japanese contractors Obayshi Corporation, Shimizu Corporation, JFE Engineer Corporation, and IHI Infra Systems Company Limited started the construction of the Second Kanchpur Bridge along with the Second Meghna and Second Meghna-Gumti bridges on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in January 2016. The total estimated cost of the three bridges was Tk 8,486.94 crore. Of the amount, Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) provided Tk 6,430 crore. The work of around 400-metre new Kanchpur bridge, with a cost of Tk 950 crore, was completed in December 2017 and the new one is two metres wider than the old one. The construction works on the new 930-metre Meghna and 1,410-metre Gumti bridges were completed spending cost Tk 1750 crore and Tk 1950 crore respectively.

Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit (Metro Rail) Project

Dhaka Metro Railis an approved mass rapid transit system under construction in Dhaka, the capital and the busiest city of Bangladesh. Together with a separate Light rapid transit (LRT) system, it has been long called for to ease the extreme traffic jams and congestion that occur throughout the entire city daily, one of the heaviest in the world. It is a part of the 20-year long Strategic Transport Plan (STP) outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA), a governmental agency.


As of 2020, the metro rail system consists of one line referred to as the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Line-6, with other metro rail lines going to be added in the future.


Construction began on 26 June 2016 with an inauguration ceremony presided over by the Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The civil work is being done by the Italian-Thai Development Public Company Ltd. and Sinohydro Corporation Ltd. JV and a Tokyo-based construction company is developing the depot's land. The track laying work, overhead electric supply work, and signalling system works are being done by Larsen & Toubro construction company of India.

Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will be a 2.4 GWe nuclear power plant in Bangladesh. The nuclear power plant is being constructed at Rooppur (Ruppur), adjoining Paksey, in the Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna District, on the bank of the river Padma, 87 miles (140 km) west of Dhaka, in the northwest of the country. It will be the country's first nuclear power plant, and the first of two units are expected to go into operation in 2023. The VVER-1200/523 Nuclear reactor and critical infrastructure are being built by the Russian Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation"Non-critical" infrastructure is being built by Bangladeshi and Indian construction companies such as the MAX Group of Bangladesh and the Hindustan Construction Company of India.
